HILLFIELDS JUST SLIP THROUGH IN EPIC    25/10

WELTON HIT FOR SIX AS C3 SNEAK UP TO 9th

In what was one of the most amazing games so far this season, Hillfields ended up sneaking through on penalties 4-3 after the game ended 6-6. Goals from Christy 3 and Luke 2 added to Joe Allen's 120th minute extra time leveller. BUCU won out 5-1 convincing winners after extra time v Hayhill, however the game was tied at 1-1 after 90mins with Hayhill hitting the post in the last minute. Widcombe ran out convincing 11-0 winners at Bristol Pistols and Israel knocked out another first div team from the preliminaries beating Santos 3-1. Nailsea had a shock score line winning 1-0 v SAS and BS4 edged a tight game 3-2 after extra time. Welton had a bye into the next round and Sanctuary were awarded 3-0 walkover against Kensington In Division 2 in the only league game of the day, C3 gained an impressive 6-0 win over Welton to move up two places from 11th.

8 teams await shield Quarterfinal draw

Hillfields Centre back Damien Wignall, had to become an emergency keeper after No.1 Tony Green got injured in the second half.  It turned out to be a worthwhile change as Damien saved two penalties helping Hillfields to win the shoot out against Counterslip Baptists.

New joint favourites Nailsea and BUCU will be the only Division 1 teams in the draw for the Shield quarterfinal after favourites Counterslip and Santos were knocked out. Division 2 leaders Sanctuary will be dark horses. With fellow Division 2 teams Hillfields, Welton, Widcombe, Israel and BS4 also in the draw.

DIV1: BAPTISTS SINK TABLE TOPPERS WIDCOMBE AS WOODLANDS ARE INSTALLED AS FAVOURITES 18/10

NO SAS FOR ROCK AS THE ARMY SLAM DOWN MARKER TO TITLE RIVALS 18/10

In Division one there were big wins for BSXI and Thornbury. Franco hit a double hatrick on his way to helping BSXI to a 11-0 drubbing of Nailsea and Thornbury crush table toppers Widcombe 7-2 with goals from matt Tyler (3), Sparky, Cookie and Kendall. But the winners of the day will be Woodlands who in the wake of Widcombe defeat were instantly installed as the title favourites. They actually lost a place in the table on goal difference despite a 4-2 win over Santos Ieuen and a hatrick from Baynton securing the points. Woodlands are however in  the driving seat having played 2 games less than table toppers Widcombe. SAS grabbed a great 2-0 victory over title Rivals and joint favourite Rock to move up to second place in the table. Sanctuary will be the real winners of this game though as they still top the table and have played less games being the only team with a 100% record in the division. Hillfields kept up their revival with an impressive 10-0 win over new boys Bristol Pistols, 2 for Luke & Christy plus goals for Dim, Joe, Nathan, Gareth and two OG's completed the scoreline. Israel grabbed their second win with a 6-1 win over Gordano, BS4 after losing their unbeaten record last week got straight back up with an impressive 2-0 win over Hayhill and Widcombe got back on track with a 3-1 win over local rivals C3 and could even afford to miss a penalty.

There was also wins for C3, 8-0 v Gordano, Christchurch 7-0 v Hayhill, Widcombe were 2-1 winners over Nailsea after extra time and In the clash of the big two in division two, Rock just edged it 3-2.   The losers move into the Shield Preliminaries. OCTOBER REVIEW

One month has passed since the season kicked off; already the tables are taking shape and the cups are getting started. So who have been the winners and the losers in September and what can we expect in October.

In division one last seasons runners up Widcombe Wanderers have already shown their intent to go one better by not only being top of the league with 4 wins from four but they have also beat last seasons champions BSXI which has made things very interesting. however you would be a fool to write of BSXI chances just yet as they seek a third consecutive championship. Woodland Rangers many peoples dark horses for the title have lived up to that billing with 2 wins from 2 including a 6-1 hammering of previous champions Thornbury. Pip n Jay, Counterslip, BUCU Santos and Nailsea all have one win under their belts but have already dropped points. Thornbury have yet to get their squad of young players into gear and Christchurch are surprisingly the only team in both divisions to not have a point. Due to cup commitments there is only one weekends of action left in the league the big game will likely be Woodlands V Santos with Dave Peregrine facing his old club for the second time this season.

In division two The Sanctuary have slammed down an early season marker not only are they on 4 wins from 4 they also did it in style with a 6-0 hammering of local rivals Hillfields in their own backyard, new signing Ricky Bush looks to have added that extra spice Sanctuary were lacking last season. Hot on their heels is Rock with three wins from three but they have toiled to some tight victories. In third place is the big surprise so far BS4 who have 8 points and are unbeaten, a far cry from the team who lost every game last season. Next is Widcombe who recently lost their unbeaten tag to Hillfields, they will be however looking to keep on the heels of the front runners. Early season favourites SAS and Welton have struggled and are off the pace, but they do remain unbeaten. Hayhill and Hillfields who finished third and forth last season respectively have both taken big defeats but both won their first games of the season so will hope that will be a springboard for the season. New boys Israel have a win under their belts but they have lost to the top two since then. Kensington, Pistols, C3 and Gordano all have a point and complete the table. In October the pick of the games has to Welton V SAS on 11th and Rock V SAS on 18th.

In the Cup the first round proper starts this Saturday, BSXI facing Counterslip and Sanctuary facing Rock are the pick of the fixtures.

In the GFA Hillfields and Israel are out but everyone else progress to Round two
